Remember The Time....?

The anecdotes, memorable experiences, & stories from friends or even strangers, are often what we remember when deciding where to spend our next vacation or weekend. Although brochures are helpful and websites so accessible, there’s nothing like a recommendation from a friend. This is what this blog is all about- sharing.
Off the beaten path- this blog will feature "Alternative Lodging", like cabins, cottages, tents, perhaps even treehouses? Where you lay your head at night influences your experience & surroundings in the morning.
Where did you stay last time?

The Train Doesn’t Sleep

This lesson I learned after organizing a group campout along the California coast. I didn’t notice the little, seemingly insignificant, RR track symbols on the campground map. I’ve camped in the desert, the mountains, the snow, beside an alpine lake, adjacent a desert oasis, under a redwood cathedral, and on an island.
I’ve roughed it in the wind, the rain, in the snow, the oppressive heat (one weekend too long in the desert, agh!- again) and on the beach. I’ve camped out in the open, in the back of a truck, in various sizes of tents- from backpacking tents, all the way up to a condominium- sized tent complete with dogs and kids, in cabins- both rustic and romantic, a pop-up trailer and coming up next weekend- a new one for me- an RV.
